The Caution Field was a social action that engaged ten newly trained individuals experiencing homelessness to crochet a 16 ft. x 16 ft. field made of caution tape (approx. 46,143 ft.). Over the course of six months, these participants made 225 individual squares (1 ft. x 1 ft.). One participant, Ed, completely assembled the field for final installation. This field was exhibited in conjunction with the False Safety Net which was comprised of about 200 lost objects found on roads and highways. Together these two pieces are meant to convey what it feels like to be homeless - lost, abandoned, in plain sight - but cordoned off from the rest of society. See the details noted below:
