ORIGINAL SIN
Growing up, we had this very same portrait of Jesus hanging in our dining room, invented by American painter, Warner Salman in 1940. Since that time, this portrait has become the quintessential image associated with Jesus of Nazareth. It has been reproduced more than ½ billion times worldwide by the end of the 20th century. Upon closer examination, after all this time, I realized that his eyes were painted blue. Who can really know what Jesus looked like, but it is more likely that his ethnicity would have yielded beautiful brown eyes and brown skin. Could it be that his hallowed place in many of our belief systems is easier to accept if we believe that he looked like US?
